I've got to learn how to put words with my pictures!  Here is a picture my son took of his wife (on his iPhone, God Bless Steve Jobs!) with the nursing cover I made for her.... She likes it!

Here is the link: http://www.blisstree.com/breastfeeding123/free-pattern-to-sew-your-own-nursing-cover/

Great instructions!  I put a pocket on it; somewhere in the comments this was recommended.  It's for a tissue, or the pacifier, or whatever....

Plumbing

It has been said that all disease is congestion and all cure is circulation.  Or something like that.  Congestion and Circulation.  Reminds me of plumbing.  How many people take plumbing for granted?  How many people appreciate it when water comes into their house when and where it is summoned?  ONLY when and where summoned?  And of course, the corollary blessing:  water draining from their homes when and where indicated?  This is a BLESSING, and don't you ever forget it!  Don't take it for granted.  OR you might find yourself living in a forty-something house with tired plumbing.  Did you know that forty years ago they made the drains that connect your house plumbing to the street plumbing from clay?  Do you know that in the midwest there is ALWAYS a dry spell in the summertime, and during that dry spell the tree roots invade the clay drains for water.  This means the clay drain that runs from the house to the street does not work properly.  You figure out the middle part.  Who knew plumbers were heroes?  That when they come to your house, fix the problem and leave, you are SO HAPPY to run around the house, flushing?  Be grateful for your plumbing.  While we're at it, be grateful for everything!  Don't take ANYTHING for granted.  I'm just saying......

Getting Old

Who said "Getting old is not for sissies"? Somebody like Bette Davis, or Katharine Hepburn. Well, they weren't kidding. My mother, 83 years old, slid off the bed while putting on her socks and knocked her new hip out of it's socket. She got her new hip while I was in Norfolk this summer welcoming my BEAUTIFUL baby granddaughter into the world. I have spent the past three summers with my mom because she was developing a habit of falling and hitting her head every summer. She must REALLY like those trauma nurses in Dayton, Ohio. This time she didn't hit her head, so she stayed in Springfield and is getting to be very popular with the orthopedic/physical therapy crowd. Well, I guess it keeps her out of the bars!

I really appreciate all the kind remarks I've received regarding my blog.... Of course, I DID have fantastic people to follow! Don't praise me, praise yourselves! I just did what you all had figured out....

Hopefully I will get some pictures on here soon... I think Gena's "picture a day" is a great idea.... It's got to be a quick way to post something....

First Blog Entry!

Here I am, dipping my toes in the blogging pond!

I have two sources of inspiration.... my girlfriend, Thelma, who has a MAGNIFICENT blog, and my daughter-in-law, who keeps me up on the latest with my BEAUTIFUL new granddaughter, even though we are separated by hundreds of miles!

My main interest in life is quilting... I have been doing it for over 20 years.... I've tried almost everything, and am not a bit tired of it yet! It's a good thing, because I have enough fabric to last me the rest of my life and then some.

Another love of my life is my MacBook Pro and the internet. This foray into a blog is really a natural progression, because I love playing on my computer, I love reading other people's blogs, and I love quilting! I have a digital camera, so a blog really should be a do-able new Grand Adventure!

I also enjoy riding my Harley. My husband rides with me. We enjoy skewing the stereotypes just a bit... riding our Harleys to a sushi restaurant, for instance, or to Barnes & Noble.
